Black and White Images of a Bitter Melon Fruit
The bitter melon fruit (bitter gourd) is an interesting photography subject. Its exterior texture is all bumpy, and it’s shaped like a cucumber. The inside is soft and full of seeds. It gets its name from its taste, and according to several sources the fruit has many nutritional benefits. This journal entry features black-and-white images of bitter melon fruit slices. These are photographed using a macro lens for extreme close-up detail.
Black and White Abstract Food Photography
One of the bitter melon fruit images chosen for this post reminds me of ‘The Scream’, an easily recognisable and famous painting by artist Edvard Munch (Year 1893).
This is how he described the painting:
“I was walking along the road with two friends – the sun was setting – suddenly the sky turned blood red – I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence – there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city – my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety – and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.”
