Monochrome botanical creations

The photos posted in this journal entry are of a twisted flower vine. To create this series I started with a single photo – the first one you see in this post. Next, I duplicate, mirror and assemble the photograph several times. Throughout the process I attempt to create an intriguing, and pleasing kaleidoscope effect. The monochrome botanical creations I have shared here are part of a larger body of experimental work. Photographs with a similar style can be found on this post.

An excellent resource about botanical art and illustration is the ‘Botanical Art and Artists’ website. The ‘Botanical Artists in Australia and New Zealand’ page from the website lists links to contemporary botanical artists and illustrators. I use this list to explore botanical artists’ work.
